Best Director Award

Lin Chiu-hyun

Director of Operation Red Sea

Award Comments:

The judges believed that director Lin Chiu-hsien had integrated the aesthetic characteristics of genre films into the narrative of the melodramatic military film Operation Red Sea, and had artistically reproduced the Yemeni evacuation incident with rich audio-visual elements, limit-challenging lens design, and tension-filled plot development of the real and cruel war scenes, which was an active exploration and innovation in the artistic expression of the melodramatic military film.

Operation Red Sea. Film Introduction:

A coup d'état has taken place in the Middle Eastern country of the Republic of Ivia, and the armed conflict is escalating. The naval frigate Linyi, which has just completed a hostage rescue mission in Somalia, is ordered to go to Ivia to carry out an evacuation mission. Captain Gao Yun (Zhang Hanyu) sends the Jiaolong commando team led by Yang Rui (Zhang Ye) to land in the area and escort the overseas Chinese to leave safely. However, the terrorist organization Zaka forces the evacuees into a firefight, and a fierce battle is inevitable. Meanwhile, a French-Chinese reporter, Xia Nan (Hai Qing), is tracking down the fact that William Bersenbaum is selling nuclear materials in Evia, while Zaka raids the company where Bersenbaum works with the intention of stealing the nuclear materials. During the melee, a Chinese employee of Dr. Parson's company becomes a hostage. In order to rescue the hostage, eight Jiaolong team members must infiltrate the gathering point of 150 terrorists, who use their faith and blood to forge a monument of Chinese soldiers' tenacity and perseverance!
