According to the Constitution of the Golden Rooster Award and the Selection Rules of the Golden Rooster Award, we hereby notify you of the following matters concerning the submission of entries for the 37th Golden Rooster Award:
I. Awards
This year’s Golden Rooster Award film awards include Best Feature Film, Best Small/Medium Budget Feature Film, Best Children’s Film, Best Documentary/Science Education Film, Best Fine Arts Film, and Best Opera Film,
Best Foreign Language Film.
This year’s Golden Rooster Awards individual awards are for Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Art, Best Music, Best Sound Recording, Best Editing, and Best Director’s Debut.
The individual awards are limited to feature films only (including small and medium budget feature films and children’s films, excluding foreign language films).
A children’s film is a feature film featuring children and adolescents or made exclusively for minors under the age of sixteen.
II. Scope of enrolment
- 1. Films that have obtained a license for public exhibition of films from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024 issued by the State Administration of Film. Including films produced by Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan production organizations and films jointly produced by mainland (China) production organizations with Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan production organizations and foreign production organizations. Chinese nationality (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) actors and actresses who fulfill the above conditions will participate in the selection of individual awards.
- 2. The Best Foreign Language Film shall be limited to foreign films that have been examined and approved by the State Administration of Film from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024 and have obtained a license for the public exhibition of films, and whose world premiere is not more than two years ago as of June 30, 2024, and which have been imported for the first time, and which will only participate in the selection of the Best Foreign Language Film Award and not in the selection of the individual awards.
III. Enrolment procedures
The Golden Rooster Award for Chinese Films is selected once a year, and this year’s application period is from now until July 26, 2024.
The documents required for each production unit to register for the evaluation can be downloaded from the official website of the China Film Association, by scanning the QR code at the end of the article or the link to the online disk.
Fill out the paperwork and submit it to the Awards Office as notified.
IV. Registration materials
Enrollment materials include the following:
Electronic version of the information:
- 1. China Film Golden Rooster Award participating film declaration form and participating individual declaration form (doc or docx format, without official seal), after filling in the form, please scan the QR code in the lower right corner of the form to register the relevant information;
- 2. High-definition pictures: including scanned copies of the film’s public screening license (photos), 1 or more horizontal and vertical film posters, 3-5 stills, and 1-2 photos (personal stills, work photos, and art photos are all acceptable) of the individual participants in the competition;
- 3. A brief synopsis of the story (300 words or less, in doc or docx format);
- 4. Those who declare their candidacy for the best screenplay are required to provide a literary script for the movie (in doc or docx format, without watermarks, with the file name labeled original or adapted).
Paper:
- 1. Paper registration materials.
(1) A copy of the Film Public Showing License issued by the State Administration of Film; (2) a letter of commitment from the participating organization and a letter of commitment from the participant; (3) a declaration form of the films and a declaration form of the individual items participating in the Chinese Golden Rooster Awards. The paper application materials (A4 format) shall be bound in a booklet in the order of the copy of the Film Public Showing License, the commitment letter of the participating organization, the commitment letter of the participant, the film declaration form and the individual declaration form, on the basis of the film as a unit. If a project entered for a single award is a collaboration between several people, each person must fill out a one-page entry form and indicate the order of the entries (the names of the creators and their order should be the same as the subtitles of the film).Each of the above documents must be stamped with the official seal of the declaring organization, and 1 set of original stamped documents and 20 sets of photocopies must be submitted.
- 2. Those who declare their candidacy for the Best Screenplay are required to provide two copies of the literary screenplay of the movie (without watermarks) and indicate original or adapted in the upper right corner of the first page.
Other information:
- 1. Keyless DCP that meets the standards for commercial theater projection (Dragon logo and no watermark are required, and the hard disk format is NTFS; DCP for foreign language films must be pronounced in the original language with Chinese subtitles; multilingual versions must be submitted with the original voice of the applicant for the Actor’s Single Award);
- 2. Full-length movie (with dragon logo and no watermark, no more than 3GB, stored in MOV or MP4 format on a USB flash drive);
