Deepa is a young divorced woman living in a small town in Bangladesh in the 1990s. Deepa grows up in an ordinary family with incompetent parents and a family dominated by her aunt and uncle. In this oppressive atmosphere, she is forced to marry a widower in England, however she suffers pain and abuse in her marriage and eventually chooses to flee. Seven years later, Deepa is a confident career woman, but she still struggles with social stigma and the burden of "family honor," trying to live her life as she sees fit. ......
