Film Introduction
During a trip to Cuba, Wenders' musical partner, Leigh Cooder, discovered the touching story behind one of the local bands and persuaded Wenders to lead a film crew to Cuba. With the release of the movie and the CD, these long-forgotten Cuban artists were brought back to life, and the world was once again introduced to the fascination of Cuban music. The Cuban musicians crossed many barriers with their music and were invited to play at New York's Carnegie Hall.
