Film Introduction
Mary and her husband, who lived in Dover, England, had been in love for forty years when, without warning, he suddenly passed away. Before the pain is gone, Mary discovers photos of a strange woman and records of an ambiguous conversation. In Calais, France, she finds another French woman who has been living with her husband for years, and who not only does not recognize her, but does not even know that the man they shared is no longer alive. By mistake, Marie becomes the other woman's maid and steps into not only the other woman's cottage, but also into her husband's secret life.
