Film Introduction

After the unconditional surrender of Japan in 1945, Taiwan was restored to the world, but another period of turbulence was ushered in. The rough lives of the four sons of the Lin family in Keelung became a witness to history: the eldest son, Wen Xiong, took over his father's operation of the "Little Shanghai" restaurant; the second son, Wen Long, was recruited to serve as a military doctor in Southeast Asia during the war, and his life was uncertain; the third son, Wen Liang, was imprisoned for having served as an interpreter for the Japanese army, and suffered physical and mental trauma; and the youngest son, Wen Qing, who has been deaf since his childhood and operates a photo studio to make a living, was imprisoned for having been implicated by a close friend with a partner who had a good time.
