Film Introduction

In order for his daughter to study in New York, Lao Lu sells his ancestral kampong house and moves into a one-room HDB flat. In his new living environment, the deep-rooted Luk befriends the seemingly dilettante, but also a clever man, Lao Chen, who has little education and relies on him to help him get along with his faraway daughter. He is uneducated and relies on Chan to help him communicate with his daughter who is far away from home. As a result, the two men, whose personalities were originally at opposite ends of the spectrum, gradually became close friends. Lao Lu's selfless devotion to his daughter and his deep affection for her is envied by Lao Chen, who himself has a daughter estranged by a divorce and who has longed to reconcile with his past self.
