A fatherless, epileptic girl named Chi Li lives a marginalized life in a city in northeastern China, surviving on the meager income she earns from a part-time job at a movie theater. A kind-hearted boy enters her world of love and gives her hope for life, but eventually leaves her because of her mother's opposition. Soon, her aunt, who has returned from Australia, is also selling the only house she can live in. One epileptic seizure after another and the abandonment of love and affection push Chi Li into the abyss of loneliness, but her inner desire for Latin dance has never been extinguished, can she still blossom in despair?
