Film Introduction

Filmed by director I.X. over a period of three years, this movie documents the lives of shakuhachi players, pipemakers and learners in China, Japan and the United States. Through their path of shakuhachi, the film reflects each person's knowledge and understanding of music, life, life and the world, showing the public another possibility of life. The shakuhachi is a bamboo wind instrument of Chinese origin, named after its length of one foot eight inches. It was once popular in the Tang Dynasty, but declined after the Southern Song Dynasty, and has been passed down in Japan ever since. Nowadays, the shakuhachi is becoming more and more familiar to Chinese young people, as it is used in the soundtracks of movies and anime such as Naruto and The Master of the Underworld.
