Film Introduction

Greece's debt crisis reached the brink of collapse in 2015, when the country's radical left-wing coalition party won the election and economics professor Yanis Varoufakis was appointed finance minister. The minister, who does not play politics and is pragmatic and eloquent, knows that the Greek economy has been deeply hurt by austerity, and that its "troika" of debtors: the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund are even more for their own interests to win every step of the way, and in the face of both internal and external pressures, whether or not it will be able to break through has become the biggest suspense.
