Film Introduction
The movie is based on the gothic horror novel of the same name by Henry James. Julia is chosen at the last minute before rehearsals begin to temporarily replace the female lead in the stage production of Screwtight, which is set in 1890. Julia arrives at the theater late one night and immediately she is asked by the director to get into character and face an empty auditorium for the entire rehearsal. As Julia interacts with the other characters, the story gradually becomes more and more terrifying, and she begins to suspect that it's not just the fictional house in this play that's haunted, but this theater as well!
