Film Introduction

Ugyen is a young teacher in Bhutan who doesn't want to teach. Instead, he aspires to go to Australia and become a singer-songwriter. To appease him, the Ministry of Education sends him to teach at the "highest school in the world", the Lunana Elementary School, located at an altitude of 5,000 meters above sea level, which not only has beautiful scenery, but also requires only a few months of schooling a year.... After eight days of traveling, Ugyen finally arrived at Lunana Elementary School, only to find himself marooned in an environment far from the comfort of his life. There is no electricity, no pop music, and, most dramatically, no blackboards in the classrooms.... The villagers welcome him warmly, but for the first time in his life, he feels powerless, and he can't even cry.... With no way out, Ugyen had to start his teaching career in the "highest school". When the sound of children's reading resounded in the snowy mountains, he found the value and joy of teaching in their eagerness to learn. With winter approaching and a blizzard on the horizon, the school was about to close. Ugin, who has fallen in love with Lunana, has to decide whether to stay or not before the ice closes the road...
