The Great Painter of Death
Director: Gaston Duprat Screenplay: Gaston Duprat
The latest from Distinguished Citizen director Gaston Duprat. Arturo Silva, a smooth, snobbish gallery owner with a near-obsessive preference for Buenos Aires. Renzo Naville, an eccentric and misanthropic painter who is oblivious to modern art and has long been forgotten by the world after his fame. The two men's ideas and personalities are at odds with each other, and as time passes, the conflict becomes more and more intense. As the friendship is about to end, a car accident forces Arturo to return to Renzo, who has no one else to turn to. After forty long years, the two old friends come to a final rapprochement, the old painter's pessimism and despair driving Arturo to Dudu, an international collector with a knack for trying to sell him paintings and turn the situation around. When the attempt fails, they come up with a wildly extreme idea destined to shake up the art world and change their lives forever.
