Film Introduction

When Lebanon was about to descend into war in the late 1940s, a brother and sister, Emilie and Emile, fled to Brazil. They start a new life in the Amazonian city of Manaus. Emilie falls in love with Omar, a businessman, and Emir stirs up trouble out of jealousy. During an argument, Emil is injured and is taken by Omar to the Amazon jungle in search of a witch doctor to save him. After Emile recovers, Emilie marries Omar. And at that moment, a tragedy occurs at the same time. This movie is not only a depiction of the migration process, but also a profound exploration of memory, passion and prejudice.
