Looking for Ozu
Directed by Wim Wenders Written by Wim Wenders
This film is a memorial and tribute to director Yasujiro Ozu by master filmmaker Wim Wenders. Ozu is a master figure in the history of world cinema, and as a documentary of a master filming another master, Finding Ozu is a unique and benchmark biography of the film industry because of its unique perspective. Using a diary approach to record Wenders' impressions of the city of Tokyo, the film cross-references footage from Ozu's films to document Tokyo thirty years later, capturing Japanese people and things.
