For me, science fiction is a starting point for all kinds of stories. I was inspired to write this script during the epidemic, when I was struck by the idea of people being "alone together" - all alone in their homes, but separated by only one wall.
I think great sci-fi stories use the sci-fi setting as a metaphor: Chi thinks he's the "only real person" in the world, just like the loneliness we experience growing up, as if the world doesn't know us, as if we're an alien.
In 2019, I directed a short sci-fi romance film called A.N.N.I.. Little did I know that this demo film, which was shot in only 20 hours and made on a very low budget, would have the honor of being selected for several international sci-fi film festivals. The story of this movie has nothing to do with A.N.N.I., but the sci-fi worlds of the two are different: sci-fi but not cold, but with texture and temperature, which is most suitable as the background of a youthful love story. So the trailer for A.N.N.I. can also be seen as a demo for this movie.
故事大纲
Chi believes that he is living in a "virtual reality": he believes that there are patterns in any digital world, and that once they are identified, an exit can be found. Every day, in order to look for patterns, he collects all kinds of objects and records in detail all kinds of insignificant details and patterns: the dress of passers-by, the style of vehicles, etc. He believes that he may be the only "real" person in the world. He thinks he may be the only "real person" in the world, and feels completely alone. One day, he meets Hachi, and after spending some time with her, he believes that she is another "real person" in the world. Soon after, the two of them got together. Zhi hopes to leave this virtual world, but Hachi doubts his idea: is this world really fake? Even if it is fake, as long as the two of them are happy, why do they have to leave? Can this relationship convince Chi to stay? Or, will Hachi be willing to follow him and leave? If he left, what would the outside world be like? Facing all sorts of unknowns, the only thing Chi knew was... "No matter where you are, I will definitely find you."
