This is a story about a mother's self-awakening. We see our parents as dutiful, hard-working people who have worked hard all their lives, and stoicism is the key word for them. On the other hand, the mother in my story, burdened with the pain of losing her son with her husband, faced hatred in the name of love and despair as a weapon at the end of her life, and turned from a victim to an abuser.
故事大纲
At the beginning of winter, Mrs. Ye Meilan and Mr. Lai Zhenhua took a flight from China to a city in central Canada, where they met Lv Pei, a lively and cheerful tour guide. The two men, both over 100 years old, are uninterested in the sights and sounds of the city and beg Lv Pei to take them to a shooting range. There, the husband tries to buy a pistol, while the wife is on the trail of a Canadian woman. At the shooting range, Lai Chun Wah bumps into his old comrade Guo Bing. Feeling that the time has come, the two ditch Lv Pei, stay at Guo Bing's house, steal one of his pistols and bullets, and keep approaching the home of Kate, the mysterious woman they are tracking. In the confusion, Yip Mei-Lan fumbles and triggers the pistol. Kate's five-year-old son falls to the ground at the sound of gunfire. Fleeing back to their old comrade's house, the two of them reveal that five years ago, their son, Lai Jun, was shot and killed by Kate's husband, Odin, during a carjacking while he was studying in Canada. Odin was sentenced to life imprisonment, and Kate was sentenced to ten years in prison for abetting Odin's murder. The two old men are living like zombies. Until a month ago, they suddenly heard the news that Kate was released early and reunited with her children. Ye Meilan nearly broke down, the fire of hatred rekindled. She wanted Kate to die, to point a gun at Kate's forehead, to make her afraid, to make her feel the fear that her son felt when he was at gunpoint. Fortunately for Ye Meilan, the shot was an empty shell and Kate's son was intact. A relieved Mr. and Mrs. Yeli are hesitant to let go of the idea of revenge when Kate and the others make the mistake of retaliating against the wife of their old war buddy. Both sides commit evil in the name of love, and it is only after Ye Meilan's robbery that she comes to a new understanding of love, the past and the future.
