This is a family movie about homecoming. The river used to connect every village here and every family had a small boat. People relied on boats to transport heavy loads, get married on them, and travel far. The boat carries the lifestyle of the past. At a time of drastic changes in the times and the transformation of the countryside, wanderers are forced to re-explore the relationship between themselves and their hometowns.

故事大纲

Seventy-two-year-old Mrs. Zhou Jin lives alone in rural Zhejiang. Her forty-two-year-old daughter, Su Nianzhen, who runs a study abroad consulting organization in Shanghai, is going through her second divorce; her thirty-six-year-old son, Su Nianqing, who works in a travel agency in Beijing and often travels abroad to lead tours, is still celibate. Learning that their mother was terminally ill, the two siblings returned to their hometown. Sister Su Nianzhen insists on giving her mother the best treatment; brother Su Nianzhen supports her mother in letting go and accepting. In her final hours, Zhou Jin guides her children to face their parting, to find a home for their souls, and to re-examine their connection with their hometown.

synopsis
