The story centers on the protagonist, Jun Sheng, who is soon released from prison. Upon his return home, Jun Sheng is strongly alienated from his hometown, which he has been away from for many years, but he believes that he is still the toughest young man in the village. With all the encounters, he realizes that the seemingly half a beat slower time difference is actually an insurmountable gap. Junsheng loves to sing pop songs, all of which are old songs from more than twenty years ago. In the songs, the irascible Junsheng finds the joy in life and the silence deep inside, and also unintentionally finds that the time lag is half a beat slower.
