The Old Oak Tavern.
Directed by Ken Loach Written by Paul Rafferty
The Old Oak Tavern, run by Tommy Joe Ballantyne, is the last pub in the small village on the coal mining industrial estate in the North East of England. One day, a bus full of refugees, who are about to make their homes in the village, pulls into the village. Even with his own meager income, Ballantyne is eager to help the refugee girl, Yara, and a strong friendship develops between the two, with the villagers gradually putting aside their preconceptions and moving towards unity under the inspiration of the two.
