The Ballad of Yellow River Ga
Director Zhang Nan
Thirty years ago, 100,000 peasants on the banks of the Yellow River in Gansu left their hometowns to live in towns and cities, and along with them disappeared into the Loess Plateau, along with the Yellow River ballads that had been sung for generations. Born in the countryside of Baiyin, Zhang Ga Ge, a young shepherd boy, suffered from stuttering since childhood, but was influenced by his father's pottery and loved folk songs since childhood. In 2012, Ga Ge came to the city to make his way, and by mistake he started acting, playing in bars in the hope of making a name for himself. Fascinated by the folk songs of the Northwest, he traveled around to learn the art, and because of his "earthy" character, he was invited to participate in a hot TV talent show and became a popular "folk singer". At this moment, the unexpected death of his grandfather makes Ga realize that he is losing his "rural flavor", and that his distant homeland and home are also falling apart. As he waits for the future to come, Ga Goon feels a sense of loss. The only thing that can comfort his soul is the deep flavor of the wheat and the earth, while the past has already passed, and he can only listen to the distant echoes of his homeland and native land.
