Film Introduction

On January 2, 1921, the steamer Santa Isabel, carrying 260 Spanish immigrants on their way to Argentina, struck a reef and sank off the Galician island of Salvadora. Only three or four women from the island came to the rescue, eventually saving 50 passengers. While the women are praised as heroines, suspicions that they were responsible for the accident and for stealing the belongings of the dead slowly seem to emerge as an Argentine reporter who wants to get to the bottom of the matter continues to dig deeper and deeper into the investigation.
