Between Heaven and Earth
Directed by Najwa Najjar Produced by Honey E. Cotter Written by Najwa Najjar
The film centers on the divorce of a couple in their thirties and married for five years. Salma is a Palestinian with Israeli citizenship, while her husband, Tamer, is the son of a prominent Arab intellectual who was murdered in Beirut. The first time Tamer is allowed 72 hours to enter Israel, he goes to a Nazareth court to file for divorce. At the courthouse, a startling revelation about Tamer's father's past opens up a journey of discovery that takes them both back to the feuding years of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to their own losses and revelations in the midst of their marriage.
