Film Introduction

In 1945, the war against Japan was won and a large number of Japanese orphans were adopted by families in northeastern China. With the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries in the 1970s and 1980s, many of the orphans returned to China, including Lihua, the adopted daughter of Grandma Chen (played by Wu Yanshu). In 2005, Grandma Chen, who has not received a letter from her adopted daughter for a long time, travels to Nara, Japan, and with the help of second-generation orphan Ozawa (Eizawa) and retired policeman Kazuo (Hayao Kokumura), she embarks on a long journey to find her... In a beautiful foreign country, the trio meets many returned orphans, whose lives show another side of the trauma of war. With cultural differences and conflicts, the search for their adopted daughter becomes a journey of many twists and turns, and where she is has become the biggest mystery in everyone's mind...
