Film Introduction

In the dry Bolivian highlands, an elderly Quechua couple who make their living herding alpacas have always lived together. But their already straitened circumstances are exacerbated by a once-in-a-lifetime drought that threatens not only their own survival, but that of their entire village. The couple's grandchildren return from the city at the news and want them to live in the city with them, but this is another harsh challenge for the couple, who have long been used to life in the countryside. Two generations and three people will look at the changes in society and nature, and the meaning of life in different ways.
